PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photochemical reactor element using a titanium dioxide photocatalyst fixed with a polymer matrix. SOLUTION: This photochemical reactor element is a molded one contg. titanium dioxide photocatalyst particles coated with a photochemically inert porous inorg. material in a polysiloxane matrix having >=1×10<-14> mol.m.m<-2> .s<-1> .Pa<-1> oxygen permeability. The matrix polysiloxane is produced from a sol prepd. by the hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction of trialkoxysilane or a mixture of trialkoxysilane and a tetra- and/or dialkoxysilane.
