Protective boot for moving shaft passing through a fire-resistant partition e.g. in aircraft

The protective boot (10) for a shaft (5) passing through a hole (4) in a fire-resistant partition (1), is designed to allow movement of the shaft and is made from a supple conical wall (11) with an inner lining (23) of a ceramic fabric and a flange (13) at its larger end fixed to the partition round the hole. The larger end of the boot is filled by a reinforced panel (16), and its flange has an outer metal reinforcing ring (20).
