1416142 Slip rings LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 19 June 1973 [24 June 1972] 29721/72 Heading H2A A slip ring assembly is formed by (a) butting together two insulating phenolic resin arcuate bodies 4, 5 to form a sleeve 3, (b) sliding two copper rings 1, 2 over projections 9, 11 on bodies 4, 5 such that recesses 7 in the rings are aligned with the projections 9, 11 and further projections 10, and (c) compressing and inserting a split cylindrical spring 6 into the sleeve 3; when released, the spring expands and forces bodies 4, 5 into locking engagement with the rings 1, 2. Bodies 4, 5 are also provided with ribs 14 for meshing with the spaces between ribs 17 in spring 6; ribs 17 also have teeth 18 for biting against a rotor shaft when the assembly is mounted thereon. |
