PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a color filter consisting of RGB(red, green, and blue) for a solid image pickup element having good resolution. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method includes a process for forming a yellow filter layer 7 at the formation positions of a red filter and a green filter, a process for forming a cyan filter layer 8 at the formation positions of the green filter and a blue filter, and a process for forming a magenta filter layer 9 at the formation positions of the red filter and blue filter. The red filter 10 is formed of the stack structure of the yellow filter layer 7 and magenta filter layer 9, the green filter 11 is formed of the stack structure of the yellow filter layer 7 and cyan filter layer 8, and the blue filter is formed of the stack structure of the cyan filter layer 8 and magenta filter layer 9.
