PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and good in image quality to be formed in high illuminance exposure. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material is obtained by forming at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one protective layer on a support, and this silver halide emulsion is chemically sensitized by a selenium compound and the silver halide grains have an average grain size of 0.30-0.45μm, and at least one of this silver halide emulsion layer and nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layers contains a dihydroxybenzene derivative in an amount of 40-600 mg/m<2> , and the protective layer contains a gelatin in an amount of 0.2-0.5 g/m<2> .
