Having formed the panel (100), an incision (104) is made, cutting one of the two skins (101) and the thickness of the honeycomb core (108), without touching the other skin (103). A hinge (106) if formed at the incision. An Independent claim is included for the hinged panel produced. Preferred features: Cutting the hinge, takes place 10-30 s after forming. The cut is made by a notched blade, initially moving vertically into the composite, then reciprocating to make the cut. Two immediately adjacent, vibrating notched blades are used similarly. The panel can be cut whilst still in the pressing mold, or when outside. A variant process based on similar principles is also described. Forming temperatures are 160-200 deg C. Skins are glass reinforced plastic (GRP).
