The runner (2), to which the parasol rod support struts (5) are pivotally connected, is pivotally joined to a downwards-oriented grip lever (3). The top part of the grip lever is pivotally joined to a relatively short, downwards-oriented lever (6), the two levers combining to form a knee lever joint. A cam (7) at the bottom end of the short lever can be engaged with holes (8) at various heights in the parasol rod (1), so that the grip lever can be swung in towards the rod in order to move the runner upwards
