PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open-type superconducting magnet with a shield which is useful for use in magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). SOLUTION: A magnet 10 is provided with two separately provided assemblies 12 and 28 and is preferably C-shaped. Each assembly includes an evacuated container 14, 30 provided with a vertical axis 18, 34 and surrounding a bore 16, 32 a magnetizable pole piece 26, 42 arranged outside of the evacuated containers inside the bores, superconducting main coils 20, 36 arranged inside the evacuated containers, and a superconducting shield coils 22, 38 and a magnetizable rings 24, 40. Between the two pole pieces, a magnetizable real route do not exist. It is preferable that the rings be arranged between the main coils and shield coils in a vertical direction. |
