Safety arrangement for motor vehicle with passenger airbag

The safety arrangement has an airbag (2) inflatable by a gas generator that can be activated by a vehicle impact, whereby at least one flap of a cover fixed with respect to the vehicle can be opened by the inflating airbag. The airbag is a multi-chamber bag in the form of a hopper airbag with a hopper-shaped free vol. (28,29) starting from the impact absorbing outer contour and extending inward to the cover region. A wall region (15,16) of the airbag in the base of the free volume is connected to the cover (10). When the airbag is inflated it cannot fold up as the free volume is formed.
