DEVICE FOR DESTROYING TYRES WITH METALLIC CORDS USING ELECTRIC DISCHARGES

The present invention relates to a device for destroying tyres with metallic cords using electric discharges, wherein said device comprises a system for shredding the sidewalls of the tyres, a system for delivering the tyres with shredded sidewalls to a destruction station, and a tyre destruction unit in the shape of a pulse-discharge unit that comprises capacitors. In order to provide for connection to the metallic cord, the tyre destruction unit includes an axially symmetrical system in the form of two electro-conductive fixtures having the shape of a truncated cone on the side of their working surfaces. This device also includes a system for discharging the products of the destruction. In order to improve the destruction efficiency of tyres having various dimensions, the main portion of the cord wires, after shredding the sidewalls, cannot be brought into direct galvanic contact with the pulse current source. The axially symmetrical system includes an electro-conductive protrusion which is arranged coaxially relative to the two electro-conductive fixtures and which is galvanically connected to one of them but electrically isolated from the other. This device may further include a system for destroying the bead rings, wherein said system includes a housing for said bead rings, at least one inductor connected to the pulse-discharge unit and a compression member.
