The controller (10) has a device for indicating error conditions consisting of an LED (12) mounted inside a casing (15) on a circuit board (14) and an optical conductor rod (13) in a casing wall bore (22) leading outside with its end face opposite the LED. The optical conductor rod, which passes through the bore from the inside so as to fit the bore, protrudes from the casing wall and is axially held at its light input face by one end of the circuit board.
