Metal catalyst carrier production for purifying exhaust gases

An outer cylinder with a welded end section and honeycomb section inserted in it forms a metal catalyst carrier with high bonding strength. Production of a metal catalyst carrier comprises: (a) preparing an outer cylinder (25) with an end welded section (26), and a honeycomb section (23) formed by winding a flat sheet (21) and a corrugated sheet (22) into a roll; (b) measuring a depth of a hollow space to a coiled end section (28) of the honeycomb (23); and (c) inserting the honeycomb section (23) into the outer cylinder (25) in a state in which the coiled end section (28) is aligned with the welded end section (26), and fillet welding the honeycomb section (23) to the outer cylinder (25). An Independent claim is also included for the metal catalyst carrier produced.
