The method for determining failing switching notes in an electronic circuit contained in a number of circuit blocks has the following characteristics: - Output valves (24) are determined, where by testing functions of many circuits the frequency of faults in the function is determined from a distribution function. For an electronic circuit for each output state (35) corresponding to an input state and influenced by a number of possible faulty circuit nodes (27) the possible output values are calculated for failure conditions. An average sample (29) from a set of the modelled failing switching nodes is formed. From the sample set the switching nodes which only create the output failure state are removed, leaving failing nodes which can cause failures at the determined failure times.
