The pyrolysis reactor (2) and condenser (3) are integrated with the burner (1), so that some of the heat from the burner is used in the pyrolysis reactor. A process for preparing an oil by pyrolysis comprises adding fuel to a burner to generate heat, converting volatile materials in a biomass into vapour in a pyrolysis reactor and condensing these vapours in a condenser to form an oil. The pyrolysis reactor and condenser are integrated with the burner, so that some of the heat from the burner is used in the pyrolysis reactor, whose fuel effect is a maximum 50 % of the fuel effect of the burner. An Independent claim is also included for the process apparatus, the heat being transferred from the burner to the boiler via at least one transfer device (9). |
