<p>A cleaning pump consists of a canister-like container with an outlet and closure. A pipe extends vertically from above the water surface, through the container and terminates in a suction bell. The pipe end has a first bung at the top, and two side-outlets and a stopper is located in the pipe between the two side-outlets. The bell intake is protected by a gauze or mesh. A hand-operated cleaning pump consists of a canister-like container (1) with an outlet and closure (2). A pipe (5) extends vertically from above the water surface, through the container and terminates in a suction bell (6) with a crowned rim (7). The pipe (5) end has a first bung (12) at the top, and two side-outlets (9, 10) within the container mid to upper zone. A stopper (11) is located in the pipe (5) between the two side-outlets (9, 10). The bell intake is protected by a suitable gauze or mesh. In operation, the bell is positioned in the sludge, the stopper (12) removed, and the sludge extracted into the canister by hand pump action.</p> |
