A DC motor, especially a brushless one, has a multi-pole stator and a multi-pole rotor that has opposite poles at pole boundaries in the peripheral direction. The end sections of the rotor lying opposite one another are arranged in twisted fashion relative to one another. The pole boundaries (7,8) of the rotor (1) are arranged in continuously twisted fashion with respect to the rotor's longitudinal axis. The poles (3-6) consist of an untwisted magnetisable base material and the poles are magnetised in twisted fashion. The rotor is designed to be subdivided in the longitudinal direction. The stator has windings which are arranged in twisted fashion in the opposite sense to the poles of the rotor.
