<p>A novel gene encoding enzymes capable of degrading hardly degradable thiophene compounds. Use of this gene makes it possible to liberate sulfur atoms from thiophene compounds contained in fossil fuels such as petroleum, thus preventing the diffusion of sulfur into the atmosphere in association with the combustion of fossil fuels.</p> |
