PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical surface seal device to provide stable performance under high temperature, high speed, and high pressure load environment. SOLUTION: A seal ring 1 is held at a housing, and a runner 12 is fixed on a rotary shaft. The seal ring 1 has an inner peripheral surface brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the runner 12 through the energization force of an extension spring, one end face in the axial direction is brought into contact with the end face in an axial direction of the housing through the energization force of a compression spring. Thin wall parts 14 with a thin wall thickness and thick wall parts 16 with a thick wall thickness are alternately arranged at intervals of a prescribed distance in the peripheral direction at the slide part of the runner 12. At a high temperature high pressure period, the thin wall part 14 of the runner 12 is recessed by a pressure and a contact area with the seal ring 1 is decreased. At a high speed high pressure period, buoyancy by a dynamic pressure effect is generated at the seal ring 1 by the recessed thin wall part 14 and a state approximately similar to non- contact seal is produced. |
