PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a macro lens capable of obtaining good optical performance over a wide range from an object at infinity to an object at a short distance. SOLUTION: This macro lens is provided with the four lens groups of a 1a-th group L1a having positive refracting power, a 1b-th group L1b having the positive refracting power, a 2nd group L2 having negative refracting power, a 3rd group L3 having positive refracting power, and a 4th group L4 in order from an object side. The group L1b is provided with a negative meniscus 1b1-th lens and a positive 1b2-th lens whose concave surfaces are on an image surface side, focusing from the object at infinity to the object at the short distance is performed by moving at least the 2nd group L2 to the image surface side, and the synthesized focal distance f1 to the groups L1a and L1b, the focal distance f1b of the group L1b, and the refracting powerϕof a lens surface on the image surface side of the 1b1-th lens are appropriately set.
