An electrical lighting lamp, such as a low voltage halogen lamp Ä1Ü has a socket sleeve Ä2Ü. The connecting power leads Ä6.7Ü are secured in the sleeve with the aid of a clamping arrangement Ä3a,3bÜ that provide secure retention against any applied axial force. The two clamping elements have interacting surface profiles that each have a projecting lug Ä11Ü that grips the leads. As the clamping elements are inserted into the sleeve they are pushed sideways relative to each other to apply the clamping force.
