N-[omega-(methyl),omega-(silyl)]alkyl-N-organocarboxamide, their oligomers and polycondensates, process for their preparation and their use

An N-Ä omega -(Methyl), omega -(silyl)Ü alkyl-N-organocarboxamide (I) is of formula (Z<1>)(Z<2>)N(CH2)mC(CH3)HSi(R<4>)n(OR<5>)3-n (1) excluding non-cyclic compounds with m = 1 and N-1-(triethoxysilyl)ethylpyrrolidone-2. In (1), Z<1> = -C(O)R<1>; Z<2> = R<2> or -C(O)R<3>, or Z<1> and Z<2> combine to form formula (i)-(iv) (where D = HN- , O, S, SO or SO2 i, j = 0-7) having 1-9 atoms in the ring; R<1>-R<5> = H, 1-8C alkyl, 6-10C aryl; m = 0-16; and n = 0-3. Also claimed are: (i) oligomeric Si-containing compounds (II) of formula (2) and polycondensed Si-containing compounds (III) of formula (Z<1>)(Z<2>)N(CH2)mCH=CH2 (3); (ii) a process for the preparation of (I) by a hydrosilylation reaction in the presence of a rhodium containing catalyst by mixing an omega -alkylenecarboxamide of formula (4) with a hydrosilane of formula HkSi(R4)n(OR<5>)4-(n+k) (5) in the presence of at least a catalyst of metallic rhodium supported or on active carbon, (Ph3P)3Rh(CO)H, (Ph3P)3ARhCl and/or ÄRh(cyclooctadiene-1,5)ClÜ2 and at least a platinum compound followed by working up of the product mixture; and (iii) a process for the preparation of (II) by mixing (I) with water or an alcohol/water mixture having a wt. ratio of alcohol : water of 1:100-100:1 and addition of an acid or a base to a pH less than or greater than 7 and whereby the wt. ratio of (I) to water is 0.1-99.9 - 99.9-0.01 in order to carry out a controlled hydrolysis. In the formulae, k = 0-4; (n+k) ≤ 4; p = 0; y = 2-50; and r = 0 or 1.
