A zipper sealer machine is adapted to be mounted within a form, fill and seal machine and coordinate, via a CPU, with the components of the form, fill and seal machine to bond strips of zip-lock material transversely to the web of material for the production of reclosable packages. The zipper sealer machine includes a substantially symmetrically formed rotor 94 having a pair of outer edges 113. A strip of zip-lock material is fed along the outer of the rotor 94 that is spaced from the film course and cut to length. The cutting process may also fuse the cut ends of the zip-lock material. The rotor 94 is rotated 180 degrees, which locates the strip of zip-lock material adjacent to the film course at which it is bonded to the film ((F), see Figure 8). Also disclosed is an embodiment of the zipper sealing machine including an adjustable film control roll that allows fine tuning of the operation to assure that the zip-lock material is bonded in the proper relationship to a printout on the film and may include a rotor that is not necessarily symmetrically formed. |
