A linear guide has two longitudinally relatively displaceable rails 1, 2 with tracks 3, 4; 5, 6 respectively along which rolling bodies 7 in a cage 9 roll. The cage 9 has at least one gear 11 with rolling bodies 13 (either rotatably or statically mounted relative to the gear 11) projecting slightly over the gear 11 and which engage recesses 16, 17; 18, 19 in the rails 1, 2 for constrained guidance of the cage 9 relative to the rails 1, 2. The rolling bodies 13 of the gear 11 may be balls 13 or rollers (23 fig 5). The rails may be prismatic. The gear 11 may be in a pocket 8 of a single cage 9 or in a separate housing (fig 5). The recesses 16, 17; 18, 19 may extend over a part or the whole of the rails 1, 2 and be formed by plastic deformation or metal cutting. |
