PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant polyester resin composition having high flame retardancy and toughness and moreover, well-balanced and excellent mechanical strength, stiffness, heat resistance and impact resistance, especially a resin composition useful as a material for parts which require toughness. SOLUTION: The resin comprises 100 pts.wt. of (A) a thermoplastic polyester resin, 1-50 pts.wt. of (B) a flame retarder, 1-20 pts.wt. of (C) an auxiliary flame retarder, 1-10 pts.wt. of (D) a glycidyl group-containing copolymer comprising anα-olefin and a glycidyl ester of anα,β-unsaturated acid, 0-9 pts.wt. of (E) a copolymer of anα-olefin with anα,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and 0-100 pts.wt. of (F) an inorganic reinforcing agent, the total amount of (D) and (E) being less than 10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the thermoplastic polyester resin.
