The present invention relates to a dispersion-shifted fiber comprising a structure for effectively restraining nonlinear optical effects from occurring and transmission loss from being caused by structural mismatching and the like. The core region in the dispersion-shifted fiber according to the present invention comprises, at least, an inner core which is a glass area, doped with a predetermined amount of F, having an average relative refractive index difference DELTA n1; and an outer core which is a glass area, disposed between the inner core and the cladding region and doped with a predetermined amount of GeO2, having an average relative refractive index difference DELTA n2 (> DELTA n1), such that the viscosity ratio between the inner core and the outer core at a drawing temperature is set within a predetermined range, thereby effectively restraining structural mismatching and the like from occurring at the boundary between these glass regions.

|
