PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an N-substituted acrylamide in improved yield by reaction between acrylonitrile and an alcohol. SOLUTION: This N-substituted acrylamide is obtained by reaction between acrylonitrile and a secondary or tertiary alcohol in the presence of a strongly acidic cation exchange resin consisting of sulfonic acid group-bearing styrene- divinylbenzene copolymer followed by removing the catalyst through filtration and then subjecting the filtrate to distillation or crystallization to isolate the resulting deposit. |
