PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a decomposer for a fluorine-containing chemical gas to be manufactured at a low cost by filling a container with an iron oxide raw material, a carbonaceous reducer and a lime additive, then reducing the iron oxide raw material to iron powder and using a reduction residue obtained by separating the reduced iron dust as a decomposer for the fluorine-containing compound gas. SOLUTION: In the decomposer for decomposing a thermally stable fluorine- compound gas, such as carbon fluoride obtained by substituting a part or the whole of hydrogen of 1-6C hydrocarbons with fluorine, an iron oxide raw material, a carbonaceous reducer and a lime additive are charged into a container, then are heated to >=900 deg.C and below the melting point of iron to reduce the iron oxide raw material to iron powder, and the decomposer is prepared using a reduction residue obtained by separating the reduced iron powder from a reduction treated material as described. In this case, a blend of the reduction residue as a main raw material and an appropriate amount of carbon alone and/or an oxide of an alkaline earth metal may be used as the decomposer, and further, an alkali metal compound may be added to the decomposer.
|
