Coins from the storage hopper (2) are transported by feeding device (3) into a distributor (5) and onto the first and second rolls (6,7). Separation of the rolls is adjusted by a wheel (17). The coins are deformed by corrugated teeth profiles as they pass through the rolls and are then transported by the discharge device (8) to a number of containers (11). Independent claims are included for a coin debasing device, and a coin which is debased using the method.
