PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and miniaturize the constitution of a base isolating table and enhance the productivity and maintainability thereof. SOLUTION: A base isolating table has a base 1 placed on a flat surface, a mounting table 2 placed on the base 1 and having a horizontal mounting surface 2 on which the subject of protection is placed, a two-axis moving mechanism 3 which allows the mounting table 2 to freely reciprocate and vibrate along the directions of mutually crossing horizontal two axes with respect to the base 1, and a damping mechanism 4 (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) which damps the reciprocating vibrations of the mounting table 2 in the directions of the two axes. The damping mechanism 4 has a vibration controller 40 comprising a wire rope obtained by the twisting together of numerous fine wires and a holder holding the wire rope spirally wound, and damps vibrations by compressing the vibration controller 40 in a perpendicular direction to the center of the spiral shape. |
