PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcoat agent used for color filters and giving overcoat having excellent abrasion resistance, solvent resistance and surface smoothness and having good adhesiveness to transparent electrode layers, and to provide a color filter treated with the overcoat agent. SOLUTION: This overcoat agent for color filters comprises (I) an organic metal compound of the formula: R1m M(OR2 )n [M is a metal element; R1 is the same or different and is hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or an unsaturated aliphatic residue; R2 is the same or different and is hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or an acyl group; (m) is 0 or a positive integer; (n) is an integer of >=1; (m)+(n) is coincident with the atomic valency of the metal element M] and/or its hydrolytic condensate, (II) a silane coupling agent having one or more kinds of functional groups selected from epoxy group, (meth)acrylic group, isocyanate group and mercapto group, (III) a compound having a functional group capable of reacting with the silane coupling agent II in the molecule, and a solvent. |
