PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct stable carbonization.activation reaction uniformly through the cross-section of a furnace and to continuously perform processes by providing a biomass charging port, an air blowing port and an auxiliary fuel blowing port at the top part of the furnace, a fire grate at the lower part of the furnace, a solid material take-out port above the fire grate and a gas take-out port below the fire grate. SOLUTION: A fluidizing bed of descending flow is formed above the fire grate by successively charging crushed biomass having the size of several mm to several hundred mm from the top part of the furnace. On the other hand, a high temp. gas formed by combustion reaction of air and auxiliary fuel, which are charged from the top part of the furnace, and/or a volatile portion of the biomass and containing oxygen of several % to several ten % concentration is passed downwardly through the fluidized bed to react with the biomass to form a drying layer, a volatilizing layer, a combusting layer, a carbonizing layer, an activating layer and an activated carbon layer in the descending fluidizing bed in this order from the upside. The activated carbon above the fire grate and the combustion gas under the fire grate are taken out. |
