<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance print quality by generating an irradiation data for controlling a light emitting element such that the I/O characteristics of a printer approach linear characteristics. SOLUTION: An irradiation data generating circuit 65 converts an 8-bit input image data into a 9-bit irradiation data according to the coloring characteristics of a printer and stores the irradiation data in an RAM 53 of the printer. When the irradiation data is fed through a register 66b to the other input of a comparator 66c having one input provided with the output from a counter 66a, a PWM circuit 66 outputs a pulse subjected to pulse width modulation with the irradiation data. Based on that PWM pulse, a controller 5 controls selective supply of driving current to a red LED 23R, a green LED 23G or a blue LED 23B by switching an electronic switch 67.</p> |
