PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Mg doped low anisotropy high temp. superconductor having reduced superconduction anisotropy, and its production method. SOLUTION: A two-dimensional layer structure comprising electric charge supply layers and superconducting layers is provided. Atoms of Cu and O are used as part or all of the constituent atoms of the electric charge supply layers to make the layers metallic or superconductive. Part of Ca atoms forming the Cum Can-1 O2n-2 superconducting layers are substd. by Mg atoms, superconduction linkage between CuO2 layers is increased and the thickness of the superconducting layers (the coherence length in the thickness direction) is further increased to decrease superconduction anisotropy on the basis of the uncertainty principle.
