PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiration monitoring device capable of constantly measuring a respiratory pattern of a cared person and capable of reliably detecting the occurrence of non-respiratory body movement. SOLUTION: A respiration monitoring device S6 is composed of the local area position/size setting part S7 and the respiratory pattern measuring part S8. In this case, the local area position/ size setting part S7 sets a plurality of positions and the sizes of a local area candidate for performing a time difference, and the respiratory pattern measuring part S8 accumulates/displays a respiratory pattern graph and a respiration rate by successively calculating/ analyzing a time difference between pixels contained in these respective local areas.
