The invention provides a gas conversion assembly for a barbecue which enables an existing solid fuel fired barbecue to be run on gas. The assembly includes a gas burner unit (4) having support means (13, 14) for supporting it removably in a barbecue hearth (2) and means (9) for supporting a grate (11) or heat diffusing grid above the burner unit. The burner unit is preferably adjustable to be supported at different heights relative to the food supporting grill of the barbecue. |
