PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the flexibility and rigidity of a guide wire, and to make easily insertable into a blood vessel by forming a coil spring from a pitch coil and filling a resin therein. SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 is constituted in such a way that a core member formed out of a tapered core wire 3 is inserted into a pitch coil 2 as a coil spring having fixed intervals. Both of the tapered wire 3 and the pitch coil 2 are fixed by means of welding and bonding at least base sections of the tapered core wire 3 and the pitch coil 3. A resin 4 is filled into a space B formed from the pitch coil 2 and the tapered wire 3, and the tapered core wire 3, (the core member) and the pitch coil 2 are combined in one united body, by the resin 4 to become a core body 4'. At least one part of an outer periphery of the core body 4' is coated with a resin 5, (a coating resin), to form an external layer to become a coating body 5'. The guide wire 1 having flexibility of a tip and sufficient rigidity can be obtained thereby. |
