LASER OSCILLATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser oscillator which can obtain a desired distribution of excitation intensity in a solid-state laser medium caused by excitation light emitted from an exciting laser diode array. SOLUTION: A laser oscillator 10 includes a rod-shaped solid-state laser medium 11 for oscillating a laser beam and a pair of resonator mirrors 13 and 14 arranged so as to sandwich the laser medium 11. A plurality of exciting laser diodes 12a and 12b as an array are arranged on both sides of the laser medium 11 to direct excitation light toward the side faces of the medium 11. The exciting laser diode 12a and 12b are driven by respective driving mechanisms 15 along an axial line direction L. As a result the laser diodes 12a and 12b can be shifted with respect to the axial line direction L.
