PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct distortion only when the user intends to correct it by controlling a distortion correction function that corrects the distortion by means of image processing when intended. SOLUTION: An object optical image formed on input pixels of a CCD solid- state image pickup element 2 through an image pickup lens 1 is photoelectric- converted and the result is outputted from the CCD solid-state image pickup element 2. This image information is written in a frame memory 5 as digital image information. In the case that a mode changeover switch 10 selects the distortion correction mode, a distortion correction arithmetic device 9 reads the image information in the frame memory 5 to correct the distortion by means of image processing. The distortion correction arithmetic device 9 allows a recorder 6/a display device 11 to record/display the image whose distortion is corrected. In the case that the mode changeover switch 10 selects the non- correction mode, the image information is read from the frame memory 5 without any modification/processing and recorded/displayed by the recorder 6/display device 11. |
