The release mechanism consists of a support (10) which fits over a holder (50) for the pivoted ends of two bars (60). The bars are held in the locked position by lugs (310) on the ends of spring-loaded V-clips (30) engaging with holes (52, 62) in the bars and holder. The support (10) has a slot (12) and a pressure element (11) with a push-button (20) which is pressed to compress the V-clips and release the bars so they can be folded.
