PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance emission luminance and color purity as well as provide a red light-emitting element that is satisfactory in stability in using it by including a bis-2,5-(2-benzazoyl)hydroquinone compound in at least one layer from among organic thin film layers. SOLUTION: Bis-2,5-(2-benzazoyl)hydroquinone is expressed by a formula. In the formula, R<1> -R<8> each independently represents a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxyl group, substituted or unsubstituted amino group, nitro group, cyano group, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group, substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group, substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocycle group, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group, or substituted or unsubstituted alkoxycarbonyl group or carboxyl group. R<1> -R<8> may form a ring, using any two of R<1> -R<8> . X represents NH, O or S.
