PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop supplying electric power to components speedily if a battery voltage drops. SOLUTION: The voltage of a battery 110 is boosted by a DC/DC converter 112 and supplied to various components 108 of a personal computer 2 through a power-ON/OFF means 4 by a system different from a CPU 104, etc. Then, a source voltage monitor means 114 monitors the voltage of the battery 110 and outputs an alarm signal 122 to the power-ON/OFF means 4 together with the CPU 104 when the voltage of the battery 110 drops to below a reference value. Then a logic circuit of the power-ON/OFF means 4 outputs a logic signal of specific level when supplied with the alarm signal 122 and a switching circuit of the power-ON/OFF means 4 stops supplying the electric power to the components 108 from the DC/DC converter 112 when the logic circuit outputs the logic signal of specific level. Therefore, when the battery voltage drops to below the reference value, the power supply to the components 108 is speedily stopped to securely prevent the CPU 104 from runaway and the data stored in a memory 106 from being destroyed.
|
