A composition comprising a nucleic acid fragment in a vehicle contains a nitrogen-containing silicone (I) as compacting agent, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the transformation of cells by introducing the composition into the cells; and (2) plants regenerated from plant cells transformed as in (1).
