PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a large-capacity memory, while securing high quality, and to reduce processing time during the process of expanding coded image data into drawing pattern data. SOLUTION: An image processing device has a binarization expansion part 254 which expands coded image data into binarized depiction pattern data, a multi-value expansion part 255 which expands the coded image data into multi-valued drawing pattern data, and an expansion method determining part 252 which determines the expansion part to which the coded image data should be applied, by determining whether or not the coded image data are data about the drawing of characters and line drawings and whether or not the coded image data meet predetermined requirements. The coded image data are applied to the expansion part determined by the expansion method determining part 252.
