PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the level of noises generated from an induction coil, while radiating heat from the induction coil. SOLUTION: An electrodeless discharge lamp device has a bulb 2 having a discharge gas sealed therein and made from a translucent material into a shape having an approximately cylindrical recess part 2a at its lower end and a case 7 mechanically holding the lower end of a base 5 by use of a screw B1 with a gap SP therebetween and storing the lead end 3a of an induction coil 3 which is drawn out downward from the recess part 2a in such a way as to pass through the gap SP. A shield part 10 formed into a cylindrical shape from a metal or the like and providing shielding to reduce electromagnetic waves radiated from the induction coil 3 located in the gap SP is provided at the upper end of the case 7.
