PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component which prevents an optical semiconductor device from being degraded in characteristics owing to moisture and gas by shielding the optical semiconductor device and optical fiber end surfaces from outside air by encapsulating adhesives between the optical fibers and is improved in reliability and durability by increasing the strength of the optical coupling surfaces of optical components and reducing the sticking of dust. SOLUTION: This optical component seals the optical semiconductor device airtightly and prevents the optical semiconductor device from being degraded in characteristics by forcing an adhesive of low viscosity to flow to many optical fibers 11 constituting the airtight part and in a slit 13 formed on a substrate 12 for fiber fixation at the border part between the substrate 12 holding the optical fibers and a cap 16 after carrying out temporary sealing with a solder material so that the adhesive does not flow to the optical semiconductor device although the airthightness is low, and then solidifying the adhesive for sealing. |
