METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING DATA BY USING EMBEDDED BIT STREAM PRODUCED BY HIERARCHICAL TABLE LOOKUP VECTOR QUANTIZER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new improving method for encoding and decoding an image by including hierarchical table look-up vector quantization to be applied for a image block and an embedding operation of obtained data in the execution of an encoding operation and obtaining an embedded bit stream of data expressing the image. SOLUTION: A code book and a correspondence table that is configured based on the code book are used for encoding and decoding processing. The code book on a level L is a regular full search vector quantization code book that has 256 pieces of 2L-dimesional code words, for instance, cL (i) (i=0, 1 and 255). An index (i) of a code word cL (i) is stored in the (j and k)-th entries of a table of the level L (L=1 to 5) of a code book corresponding to levels 1 to 5. What a 2L-dimensional vector quantizes with a full search vector quantizer of the level L is associated with the word cL (i).
