摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a large storage capacity even when a request with reference to the optical quality of a component to be used is comparatively low. SOLUTION: An optical information processing apparatus is provided with a memory element 30 which stores an interference pattern. The processing apparatus is provided with a beam splitter 10 which generates two beams of light adjusted so as to be composed inside the memory element 30 while the interference pattern is being formed. The processing apparatus is provided with an optical element 24 which modulates the two beams of light so as to be guided to the memory element 30. The processing apparatus is provided with a detector 70' which detects the two beamsof light. The processing apparatus is provided with a demodulator 80 which measures the time modulation or the space modulation of the intensity of light on the basis of the whole or a part of the cross section of the two beams of light. At least the memory element 30 is constituted in such a way that the space position of the interference pattern generated inside the memory element 30 by the two beams of light is changed to an arbitrary direction, in terms of space, with reference to at lest one out of the space position of the interference pattern stored in the memory element 30 and the structure of the diffraction of light inside the memory element 30.
