PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send a wavelength multiplex optical signal in a broad wavelength band to a long distance by compensating the loss difference of an optical signal with each wavelength, produced in the wavelength multiplex optical signal with a transmission loss characteristic of wavelength dependence of an optical transmission line or a scattering compensation device itself. SOLUTION: An optical transmission line 4, through which a wavelength multiplex optical signal with a broad wavelength band resulting from applying wavelength multiplexing to optical signals with many kinds of wavelength bands λ1-λn are transmitted, is provided with a loss difference compensation device 5A, that compensates a loss difference of the optical signals with the wavelength bands λ1-λn which are produced in the wavelength multiplex optical signal by the transmission loss characteristic of wavelength dependence of the optical transmission line 4. |
