For each roll the storage installation comprises two shaft ends each passing through the ends of the roll axial bore. The shaft ends each carry a ball bearing (8) the outer race of which has a width equal to the internal width of U-section rails (10) constituting the bearing track. Each rail is connected to a safety bar (12) located above it and preventing the bearing exiting beyond the zones provided in the rail.
