PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a DNA encoding a new protein having homology with xylulokinase and useful as a hypoglycemic agent used for preventing diabetes and scarcely having a side effect and further as a genetic diagnosing agent for diseases such as hypoglycemia and diabetes. SOLUTION: This DNA encodes a protein having the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as an amino acid sequence of the formula. The DNA can be obtained by cloning the DNA, for example, by amplifying the objective DNA from a genome DNA library, etc., by a PCR method with a synthetic DNA primer having the partial base sequence of a DNA encoding the protein. |
